Beating Stereo Madness, Back On Track and Polargeist: A Section-by-Section Guide
Published · 2 min read
Stereo Madness
The first third is single spikes and pairs with a block between them: tap once per spike, and if a run of them sits on flat ground, just hold. The first ship section comes at about 45 percent. Do not hold the button; pulse it in short presses and the ship stays level down the middle of the corridor. The jump pads after the ship do the jumping for you, so keep your finger off the button and let them throw you. The last stretch is triple spikes on flat ground, which is a single well-timed tap each, not a hold.
Back On Track
This level introduces the gravity portals. Through a blue portal you fall upwards, and the spikes are now on the ceiling; the tap is the same, the direction is flipped. The section that ends most runs is the long chain of yellow rings at around 60 percent: tap once on each ring, in rhythm, and never early. If you are early on the first one you will be early on all of them. The ship section near the end is wider than Stereo Madness's; keep to the middle and pulse.
Polargeist
The hardest of the three, and mostly because of the ending. The opening is manageable spike work, then a ship corridor that narrows: short pulses, and dive under the ceiling blocks rather than trying to skim over them. The famous part is the staircase of jump rings near 85 percent. It is a rhythm exercise, one tap per ring on the beat, and it is worth practising by deliberately dying at the first ring a few times just to get the sound of it in your head. Once that staircase is reliable, the level is done.
The one habit
Play with the sound on. The levels are built on the beat, and the ear is faster than the eye. If a section keeps beating you, stop looking at the cube and tap to the music.
